THE HISTORY THEY KNOW: The fishermen of Orpool plundered Whispering Sound and grew fat on its bounty until a man rose from the waves and brought a terrible storm with him.  When it was done, Orpool was lost to the tides.

Folk say the sea has retreated, leaving the village a flooded ruin, accessible but perilous. Some talk of hoarded wealth. Glittering coins in rock pools and drums of fish paste bobbing in the shallows. 

Of the man, nothing is known. Perhaps merely a sailor washed up by the rising tide. A story to entertain on a rain-whipped night. In all likelihood, Orpool went the way of so many villages crouched on the sea’s edge.

One thing is certain. Others seek its treasures, so you better get there first.
